  • Veterinary Science & Public Policy

Sheikh Dr. Majid Sultan Al Qassimi is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, educated at Saint Istvan University in Budapest. He began his career in zoo and wildlife conservation, later moving into public service as Director of Terrestrial Biodiversity at the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi. From 2015 to 2021, he served as the UAE’s Chief Veterinary Officer and advisor to two ministers on food and agriculture policy at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

His work placed him at the centre of UAE and regional strategies on food security, biodiversity, and sustainable agriculture. He co-developed the UAE’s Food Diversification Strategy in collaboration with the FAO and continues to lead high-level policymaking through his board roles on national food safety, agriculture, and accreditation authorities.

  • Sustainability & Future Generations

Dr. Majid is a founding partner at SOMA MATER, where he develops sustainability strategies for government and private sector clients. Deeply committed to STEM education and public awareness, he engages youth through mentoring, advocacy, and curriculum development.

As one of the first Emirati veterinarians, he plays a pivotal role in advancing veterinary education and promoting career development in the life sciences — blending technical expertise with policy insight to help shape a more food-secure and ecologically balanced future.
