SRTI Park, Sharjah Civil Defense sign MoU on production of safety equipment

  • Agreement to boost innovation and knowledge transfer as well as attract companies for the production and manufacture of safety equipment

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation and research studies was signed between Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) and Sharjah Civil Defence. The MoU will boost innovation and knowledge transfer as well as attract companies for research and production of safety equipment at SRTI Park.

The agreement was signed by Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park; and Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Civil Defence Department in Sharjah, on Sunday. The two parties will cooperate in studying and implementing joint projects and initiatives that contribute to enhancing research and development in the area of civil defence and safety.

The MoU also expounded on of the common goals of both parties in the service of the public interest, which requires coordination and providing the necessary support for various initiatives, including conferences, scientific forums, creativity and innovation projects, and research.

Both parties will also work on enhancing rescue missions and training civil defence employees as well as supporting and implementing their innovative ideas. 

Synergy between private and public sectors

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park, said the MoU will boost the synergy between private and public sectors. He noted: “Our partnership with the Civil Defence reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, regarding the necessity of cooperation, coordination and unification of efforts with all parties in Sharjah to enhance investment in the innovative sector in the emirate and to develop Sharjah as innovation capital in the Middle East.” 

“The MoU will provide support to SRTI Park as well as to Sharjah Civil Defence to enable them to achieve their goals through joint cooperation in a number of important areas related to public safety.  These are great efforts to serve the public and created a better quality of life for the entire community,” he underlined.

Al Mahmoudi added SRTI Park is intensifying its efforts to search for partnerships with various governmental and private agencies to promote the Park as a regional development center for future technologies and a competent hub for research and development. 

SRTI Park is a hub for creativity and innovation. It has strong infrastructure and well-equipped services that are appropriate for technological and technical investment in the Middle East. SRTI Park encourages innovators by supporting them in establishing their own companies and provide services for scientific analysis, research, high-quality insights and marketing.
