Free Charging Stations for Electric Cars at Sharjah Innovation Park

The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park began installing chargers for electric vehicles throughout the Park, to be used free of charge by investors and employees, and this comes within the sustainability strategy pursued by the Park, with the aim of encouraging the use of this type of transportation. Resent global research has shown that electric and hybrid cars are more sustainable for the environment. They emit less greenhouse gases and air pollutants over their life than a petrol or diesel car. This is even after the production of the vehicle and the generation of the electricity required to fuel them is considered. With no tailpipe, pure electric cars produce no carbon dioxide emissions when driving. Over a year, just one electric car on the roads can save an average 1.5 million grams of CO2.

His Excellency Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of the Park emphasized that Sharjah has made great progress thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in the field of sustainability, which today ranks among the top cities in the region focusing on clean energy and the park is committed to encouraging individuals and society to use sustainable transportation for a more sustainable future.

He stressed that the Park adopted the latest international technologies applied in car charging systems in a safe and easy way, noting that electric cars have grown increasingly popular during the past years, and it is expected that their use will increase in the coming years as they contribute to improving the environment compared to gas vehicles.

SRTI Park hosts the largest companies providing modern technological solutions in the use of clean energy. "We aspire to solidify the status of the Park as a link between the various sectors and as a platform to discuss the best modern technologies in a manner that enhances the use of clean energy and is in line with the UAE vision 2020, and the energy strategy 2050, related to the deployment of clean energy uses in all fields, especially the field of sustainable transportation, and achieving Sustainable development in the country.
