Ms. Alisha Moopen


Alisha Moopen is the Deputy Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, managing the company's operations in India and the GCC. Having joined the company as a Director in 2013, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and development of the company and notably spearheading the group's expansion into new markets.

Aster DM Healthcare is one of the largest integrated healthcare conglomerates with a presence across 7 countries. With 36 years of solid track record of providing compassionate patient care, Aster provides the complete circle of care through its primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary care services and its network of 33 hospitals, 127 clinics, 229 labs & PECs, and over 527 pharmacies. Along with providing medical care to millions across geographies, Aster DM Healthcare now provides direct employment to 31,222 people, including approximately 3,998 doctors and 9204 nurses, and the numbers are still growing.

The World Economic Forum elected Alisha as a Young Global Leader to join the class of 2018. Recognizing her past work in healthcare, she has been inducted into a 5-year program with like-minded people who are committed and passionate about tackling the world's leading challenges today, with healthcare being one of them. She was the first female Chapter Chair of YPO's Dubai Chapter, a global leadership organization that brings together over 27,000 chief executives from over 130 countries. She is the Founder and Vice-Chairwoman of Dubai Healthcare Business Group. In 2021, she was appointed to the Board of Thought Leadership and Innovation Foundation, a US-based non-profit organization.

Alisha was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park under the leadership of HH Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, as per a decree issued by HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Alisha was recently featured in Fortune India and Business Today's Most Powerful Women in Business list. In 2023, Arabian Business named her one of the top 10 Healthcare Visionaries for the Middle East. In 2022, Alisha was recognized as the Healthcare CEO of the Year by CEO Middle East and awarded UAE's Young Leader of the Year recognition by India Global Forum. She was recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in the Arab World by CEO Middle East Magazine.

She is a Chartered Accountant from the ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) and worked earlier with Ernst & Young. She graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with distinction in Finance & Accounting. She also holds a Global Leadership & Public Policy Change degree from Harvard University.


Alisha Moopen's philosophy in life is 'Healthiness is Happiness'. She wants to enable quality healthcare across the globe by treating people with compassion, precision, and excellence. She is dedicated to the cause of women's empowerment and mental health. She believes in the diversity of the workforce and strength in differences and focuses on improving the glass ceilings at work for women. She was instrumental in launching the Women in Leadership program at Aster DM Healthcare, which empowers talented and capable female employees with training and growth opportunities to shape them for leadership roles. She is also an active philanthropist, a trustee of the Aster DM Foundation, and involved in social welfare through the Aster Volunteers program, which bridges the gap between people who would like to help those in need. Health is a birthright of every human on this planet.

Alisha is dedicated to ensuring that humanity leverages advances in science and personal re-engineering of self, ranging from lifestyle choices to dealing with the external environment to staying happy and healthy, both physically and mentally.

She believes using technology can enable better health outcomes for population management through precision medicine, connected care, and AI.
